Surname Research

Looking for distant cousins or more information about your family? Try using our Surname Research tool. Once on the page you will see a list of surnames our members have added. More information is viewable by clicking on the eyeball icon. You can also send an email to the person who registered the surname by clicking on the envelope icon.

 

 

Only SAGHS members can add names to the list -- that is one of our membership benefits! By adding your names to the list you enable other researchers to contact you to share information or make inquiries about your surname. Non-members will not see any contact information. Members can decide if they want to answer any emails received.

 

Members: Here’s how to add a name:

1. Log on to the Members Only section of the site by clicking on it in the left sidebar. You will be asked to login with your user name and password.
2. Next click Your Profile.
3. In the bottom part of the page, click on the Surnames tab. It looks similar to the image above.
4. Click on the plus sign in the upper right to add a record. In the popup page enter as much or as little info as you want about your ancestor.
5. Click Save and you are done. Add as many surnames as you wish.
6. Then sit back and watch the emails come in!
